Turquoise on your phone's home screen
Turquoise runs in the browser — no app store needed. Add it to your home screen once and it opens like an app: full screen, with its own icon and notifications. It takes less than a minute.
Opens like an app
Full screen, without the browser's address bar, straight from its icon.
Notifications
On iPhone, notifications only work once Turquoise is on the home screen.
Nothing to install
No app store, no extra permissions — and always the latest version.
iPhone & iPad
Use Safari (on iOS 16.4 or later, Chrome and Edge work the same way via their Share button).
- 1
Open Turquoise and sign in
Open turquoisechat.com in Safari and sign in, so that your chats are on screen. The icon will open exactly this page.
- 2
Tap the Share button
The square with an arrow pointing up, in the bar at the bottom of the screen (on iPad: at the top right).
- 3
Choose “Add to Home Screen”
Scroll down the list a little. If it's missing, tap “Edit Actions” at the very bottom and add it.
- 4
Tap “Add”
Keep the name “Turquoise” and tap “Add” at the top right.
- 5
Open Turquoise from its icon
From now on, always open Turquoise from the home screen. To get notifications, switch them on once in Settings → Notifications and allow them.
Android
Use Chrome (other browsers: see below).
- 1
Open Turquoise and sign in
Open turquoisechat.com in Chrome and sign in.
- 2
Open the menu
Tap the three dots ⋮ at the top right of Chrome.
- 3
Choose “Install app” or “Add to home screen”
Depending on the Chrome version, the entry is called “Install app” or “Add to home screen”.
- 4
Confirm with “Install”
Confirm. Android places the Turquoise icon on your home screen (on some phones, you can drag it to where you want it).
- 5
Open Turquoise from its icon
Turquoise now opens like an app and also appears among your apps. Switch on notifications once in Settings → Notifications.
Other browsers on Android
Samsung Internet: menu ≡ → “Add page to” → “Home screen”. Firefox: menu ⋮ → “Install” or “Add to Home screen”. Edge: menu ⋯ → “Add to phone”.
Discreet notifications
Notifications only say “New message in” and the group chat's name — never who wrote or what. Switch them on per device in Settings → Notifications; you can send yourself a test notification there.
If something doesn't work
I can't find “Add to Home Screen” on my iPhone.
Make sure you're in Safari and not in an app's built-in browser (e.g. when opening a link from an email app, choose “Open in Safari” first). Then scroll down the Share list or add the entry via “Edit Actions”.
The icon opens the website instead of my chats.
Remove the icon, sign in to Turquoise first, and add it again from the chats page.
I don't receive notifications on my iPhone.
Notifications require iOS 16.4 or later and only work when Turquoise is opened from its home screen icon. Switch them on in Turquoise under Settings → Notifications, and check iPhone Settings → Notifications → Turquoise.
How do I remove Turquoise from my home screen?
Long-press the icon and choose “Remove App” (iPhone) or “Uninstall” / “Remove” (Android). Your account and your chats stay.
